Hi guys, I am looking at an ‘80 Turbo Pace Car to add to my collection.

They’re very scarce in the U.K., so you have to jump fast when one comes up.

I have a couple of questions on trim cause this one looks a bit odd to me.

Firstly, it’s got mirrored T-tops; I thought they were all dark-smoked.

Secondly, it’s got a grey cloth deluxe interior with silver door panels complete with a red ‘Bird that looks the same as the ones in my ‘79 10th Anniversary.

The rest of the car looks correct: proper white painted 8” Turbo wheels, original paint & decals in the door scripts, plus the large Pontiac lettering across the top of the windscreen.

Any thoughts?

I’ve done a bit of research & this is correct for an ‘80 Indy pace car.

The ‘81 Daytona pace cars have black smoked T-tops and a less flamboyant Bird with less graphite paint.

The most significant difference is the Recaro black and orange/red interior.

The oyster grey dash, console, door trims & carpet were a direct carry over from the ‘79 10th Anniversary, which of course I have.

I’m just learning that Pontiac offered the turbo 301 for two years.

Thought it was a one-year thing.

I have much to learn.
