I just picked up a 1985 TA with a 350/290 GM crate engine.

There is 20k on the motor (but 208k on the chassis).

The oil was black as soot.

The oil pressure gauge read just next to the red.

I changed it last night for some Rotella T6 5W40 (the same as I have used in my VFR Interceptor for years).

Now the oil pressure is fully at 200.

I am totally worried that I messed something up.

The filter I used was a Fram PF30.

There was a NAPA Pro Select 21069 in it.

I could use any advice you guys have.

Thanks,
Sean.

I would change out the oil-sending unit with a new one and put a WIX oil filter on instead of the Fram.

Fram is a cheap filter, in my opinion.

Roger that.

I'll pick up a sending unit today.

I am going to leave the filter in for now.

It's only a couple of weeks before I store it for the winter.

Thanks for the help!

I would check with NAPA Auto Parts or O’Reilly Auto Parts.

OEM would be best, though.
