Hello all!

I am new to this forum, but not new to forums in general.

My dad just picked up this super nice 79 Trans Am.

It has 31k original miles, and the previous owner bought the car in 1980.

It has sat parked for at least 20 years and is super nice because of it.

He found the build sheet, and it turns out that the car is a WS7.

I know WS7s are rare cars, but does anyone have rough production figures for them?

Some more info on the car.

It has power windows and locks, t-tops, a 403 automatic, cruise control, AC, and the WS7 package, as I already mentioned.

That’s a good-looking car!

WS7 package has a fascinating history, aside from the obvious rear drum brakes, there are supposedly differences in front spring rates & anti-roll bar diameters

I don’t even know of a WS7 in the UK.

How rare are they in the U.S.?

From my reading, the seats, steering, shocks, wheels, tires, and sway bars are the same as those of the WS6 cars.

The only difference between a WS6 and a WS7 is that the WS7 has rear drum brakes and the WS6 has rear discs.

I have never really looked for WS7 cars before, but in my recent research, I haven't found many others.

Often the VIN, body tags & build sheet will throw up some good in depth info……… like a year a particular plant had specific parts supply issues for example. Always worth a look!

Interesting, The VIN may also give insight as to where it was built. Norwood cars had an N in the VIN, forget what the letter for the Van Nuys cars was. Munky may be right, possibly a supply issue or maybe an option/order issue. I know some RPO codes had to be ordered together, like a certain engine would only be available with a certain suspension pkg.

It’s a Norwood car. I know everything I need to about the car. I was mainly wondering if there was any sort of production numbers or even an estimate on the WS7 cars. I have since found that no such figure exists.
