WS6 Badging?

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a topic I know little about.

While I was talking with a friend who had just recently purchased a 2002 WS6, he noticed the position of the WS6 badge on my 2002 Collector's Edition.

It's my understanding that the WS6 badge should be under the passenger-side (right-side) taillight.

His car's badge was on the driver's side (left) taillight.

My initial search showed that a small number of cars left the factory with the WS6 badge on the driver's side.

When I tried to duplicate the search, it produced a different result, and I couldn't get a duplicate response.

The obvious answer is that someone did bodywork and put the badge in the wrong spot.

The car's title is clean, and there is no evidence of an accident.

If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be genuinely appreciated!

Interesting, all the cars I've seen were on the passenger side.

Spending around 8 years of my career working in GM dealerships, as a mechanic, I have seen some mistakes come thru.

One common one was seeing Chevy trucks come in with GMC emblems, most notably the logo on the center of the steering wheel.

Had a FWD Olds Omega come in with a 2.5 ( Iron Duke) emblem on the RT front fender and a 2.8 V6 emblem on the other side. Most mistakes we took care of before the car was sold, but the Omega never got fixed because the customer never noticed it.

There may be plenty out there with the WS6 tag on the driver's side, just no one ever paid attention to it.
