Greetings, I'm trying to find a good home for my son's 3rd Gen Trans Am to a lover of Trans Ams that would like to take over the restoration project started by my son and I before he went away to college.
History: My wife and I had initially purchased the 1983 Pontiac Trans Am (nicknamed Zeke) as a high school graduation present for my son. It was supposed to be his college car.
We thought, naively, that we'd be able to finish the restoration before he left for college, but that was almost 3 years ago, and the car is still sitting in my garage.
During that time, we purchased several parts and tools from Classic Car Industries and Amazon that we never got around to installing.
Zeke is a good little car, and I want to see him go to a good home and someone willing to restore him rather than strip him down for parts or sell him to a junkyard.
It would break my son's heart if he ended up rotting away in a junkyard or stripped.
I'm not asking for any money; I'm just looking for a good home and someone who loves restoring cars, as my son did (I'd really appreciate it if you would send pictures when the car is all fixed up, as it would make my son smile.
I have a full Lemon Squad report and Bill of Sale, which I'll try to post here if I can ( along with extra pictures of everything that was purchased).
I'll briefly list everything the car comes with, its condition, and any pending issues I can think of.
1983 Pontiac Trans Am (Nicknamed Zeke by my son)
Body: Excellent condition, no visible rust.
The passenger side mirror housing has a slight scrape/dent.
I think my son scraped somebody's car once when he used to drive Zeke to school.
A small oil leak underneath that I could never quite figure out.
I added some Bar's Leaks High Mileage Engine Repair to the oil crankcase to slow down the leak.
Interior: Immaculate. My wife and I shampooed the car thoroughly when we purchased it back in 2021 to remove any lingering old smells.
We also took it to a car stereo store and had them professionally install a new car stereo and speakers.
The original stereo and speakers are stored in boxes and will be included with the car if you'd like to return it to its classic stereo setup.
The middle console lid pops up slightly because the latch is worn out.
The passenger seat has developed a small tear in the seat cushion due to its age and fragility.
No one has sat in that seat since, because I didn't want it to get worse until I had a chance to patch it.
It is a very tiny tear, though, but I know how those things can grow.
The dashboard lining has a hairline crack along its surface from age and will obviously need to be replaced, but it doesn't look unsightly.
It is complete and intact.
Known Issues:
The car runs, and my son used to drive it every day to and from high school, the movies, and the mall a few times a week.
Recently, I've noticed an issue where something is draining the battery, and I now have to jump-start it to get it running.
I thought it might be the new radio causing the issue, so I removed the fuse, but it didn't solve the problem.
I have a whole pack of fuses (300 pk..) that come with the car, and I can re-insert the radio fuse before pickup.
About a year ago, the old cap on the plastic radiator reservoir wore out while my son was driving Zeke, and as you can imagine, hot radiator fluid started to spray everywhere.
We purchased an OEM replacement tank from an eBay car parts store and replaced the plastic reservoir; however, we lost one of the two screws needed to fasten it securely.
If you have two replacement screws, you'll be fine.
My local Autozone or Advanced Auto didn't have any, and I couldn't find them.
The car also vibrates slightly when running, and the radiator fan seems a bit loud when the vehicle is in operation (I don't recall it being that loud when we originally purchased it).
All of the replacement parts or tools listed below have been purchased over the last 3 years from Amazon or Classic Car Industries but have never been opened or installed (except for the Edelbrock air filter, filter stud screw, and trunk lock), and will be given away with the car to help you get an easy jump on the restoration.

Please only contact me if you're serious about picking up the car and restoring it to its former glory, as it would break my son's heart if Zeke ended up rotting away in a junkyard or was just stripped down for parts.
He's a good little car and deserves a 2nd chance, and he gets looks everywhere we go!
Note that the car also comes with the original Pontiac books and bill of sale from the original owner, which we found in the glove compartment, making it a great piece of history.
Also, Zeke starts up when he's jumped, but you might not be able to drive him far, unless you're bringing a new battery with you.
I would suggest a tow to your destination.
We originally paid $600 to have him shipped by carrier from Indiana in 2022.
The cost may vary slightly, depending on your destination.
We used the app USHIP to locate a carrier.
With all the free parts, I think it's a great deal for someone looking to restore a classic car.
Please feel free to reach out.
My name is John.
