I want to use an Edelbrock Performer RPM (7156) intake on my 79 Trans Am.

Edelbrock says it requires modifications due to the intake being 1 1/4" taller than the factory one.

Do any of you know WHAT is needed to be modified to make this work?

I used air cleaner assembly from Butler Performance; it's a drop base set up and worked perfectly on my 76.

I hope this helps.

I am currently in this situation.

I just put a 7156 on our engine with a 1406 carb.

Although the electric choke carb doesn't fit, I will have to swap for a manual choke.

I have quite the clearance issue, as pictured below. With the shaker installed, I have 5"-6" that I can not close the hood by.

I am curious if you guys figured anything out or what I have to do? I have a 1980 TA with 400 Out of 76 Catalina.
